New Hampshire Dashes Seawolves Playoff Hopes

Nov. 4, 2001

Final Stats

Durham, NH -- New Hampshire scored more than half of its first 25 points in games one and two off Stony Brook errors and cruised to a 30-25, 30-20, 30-15 win over the Seawolves Saturday afternoon.

Stony Brook hit .424 in game one thanks to Rachel Golsmith's seven kills. But, the Pack gave UNH 13 of its first 25 points on errors and fell. It was the same story in game two as the Wildcats led 25-16 thanks to 13 Stony Brook errors.

The Wildcats cruised from there, needing just 15 minutes to take game three. They built a 20-6 advantage and never looked back.

It marked the seventh loss in eight matches for the Seawolves and the sixth win in seven matches for UNH. The Seawolves would need everything just short of a miracle to be one of the four teams to make the America East tournament. The Pack would need to win its remaining three matches (Maine, Drexel, Towson) and have Maine lose two of its final three.

Goldsmith had 11 kills in the loss, Val Maloy had nine digs and Reggie Lilavois collected 26 assists.

Stony Brook takes on Maine Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
