Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Mike Orfini (Vienna, Va./Gonzaga HS (Washington, D.C.) was named America East Rookie of the Week, the America East announced Monday.

The freshman guard/forward averaged 13 points and six rebounds in two games last week. He came off the bench to score 12 points and grab a team-high seven rebounds in Stony Brook's 64-59 upset win over Cleveland State on Tuesday and added 14 points and five rebounds at Hofstra on Saturday. Orfini is the first Seawolf to receive America East Rookie of the Week honors.

Orfini has appeared in all eight games, starting three, and is averaging 6.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. Stony Brook (1-7) will face Villanova on Tuesday night. Tip-off is 8:00 p.m.
