Tennis Handles Central Connecticut

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's and women's tennis team did not give up a match during its defeat of Central Connecticut on Wednesday afternoon. Both the men and women posted a commanding 7-0 victory over the Blue Devils.

Six Seawolves won their matches without losing a game during the match. Philippe Amireault, David Hewitt and Patrick Drozdzick all won their matches at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles by scores of 6-0, 6-0. For the women, it was No. 2 Barbara Affertsholt, No. 5 Deanna Ghozati and No. 6 Esther Forrester winning 12 straight games for singles victories.

No. 1 Jens Pillgram-Larsen defeated CCSU's Chris Markowski, 6-0, 6-1. Playing No. 1 singles for the women was Martha Barrett, who defeated Rose Anderson, 6-0, 6-1.

The only challenge of the day came at No. 4 singles on the women's side, where it took SBU's Olesya Ianovitch three sets to defeat Katie Davidson, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1, 10-4.
