Maloy Leads Seawolves Past Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Stony Brook volleyball team (17-9/3-2) moved into third place in the America East Conference with a 3-1 (32-30, 31-29, 29-31, 32-30) win over Albany (12-9/2-2) Saturday afternoon. Sophomore outside hitter Valerie Maloy had a career-high 28 kills and LaToya Byerly added 20 to lead Stony Brook to the win - their second in a row.

Maloy also recorded a double-double with 14 digs added to her match-high kill total. Byerly, a senior, had a .442 hitting percentage and made just one error in 43 total attacks for the Seawolves. Defensively the Seawolves were led by sophomore Abby Egan who tallied a match-high 19 kills, just ahead of sophomore Julie Zub's 16. Junior Rachel Goldsmith was the team-leader in blocks with five.

After playing a total of 17 matches in a row on the road, the Seawolves come home to host the Maine on Saturday. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
