WASHINGTON (AP) - Luke McArdle caught three touchdown passes from Andrew
Crawford as Georgetown defeated Stony Brook 49-21 Saturday afternoon.
Marcus Slayton ran for 132 yards on 19 carries for the Hoyas (2-4, 1-2
Patriot League), who have won two straight. Crawford completed 10-of-18 passes
for 260 yards and four touchdowns.
Clinton Graham scored three touchdowns for Stony Brook (2-3, 1-2 Northeast
Conference), which dropped its third straight game.
The Hoyas scored on four of their first five drives in the first meeting
between the schools.
McArdle's 36-yard touchdown reception 4:47 into the game put the Hoyas ahead
7-0. After Graham scored on an option pitch from 3 yards out, the Hoyas rang up
27 unanswered points.
Alondzo Turner scrambled through the Seawolves defense for a 14-7 lead with
4:51 left in the first quarter and Jason Abrams' interception of a tipped pass
from Stony Brook quarterback T.J. Moriarty set up a 24-yard scoring pass from
Crawford to McArdle late in the opening period.
Craig Agnello pounced on John Sims' fumble in the end zone for a 27-7 lead
2:22 into the second quarter and McArdle, who had five receptions for 147
yards, hauled in a 39-yard touchdown reception 4:37 before halftime.
Graham dove in from the 1 on the final play of the half, but Georgetown's
Derrick Deese blocked Michael Soto's point-after attempt and Matt Fronczke
picked the ball up and raced down the sideline untouched.
