Men's Soccer Downed By Binghamton 2-0

Oct. 22, 2003

Box Score

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook University men's soccer team lost 2-0 today to Binghamton University on a cold, overcast day at University Field. The Seawolves are now 1-5-0 in America East play and 3-11-1 on the season. Binghamton improves their record to 3-1-2 in America East play and 9-2-4 overall.

Binghamton jumped on top early in the contest, scoring on an unassisted goal by Graham Munro in the fourth minute and a tally by Joey Neilson, assisted by Stephen Bruce, less than four minutes later to make the score 2-0. The Seawolves settled into their defense after the initial eight minutes and had two shots on goal in the first half but were unable to convert.

Stony Brook improved their play in the second half, spending the majority of the period on Binghamton's side of the field. However, the team was unable to put any of their eight second-half shots in the back of the net. Overall the Seawolves outshot Binghamton 10-7, but the Bearcats early flurry of activity was too much for Stony Brook to overcome.

The Seawolves hit the road on October 25 at the University of New Hampshire. The game kicks off at 1 p.m.
