Stony Brook dropped a 4-0 decision to Boston University in America East men's soccer action at Nickerson Field on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Seawolves fell to 3-13-1 on the season and 1-7-0 in conference play, while the Terriers clinched a spot in the America East Tournament after improving to 9-6-3 and 4-1-3.
After a scoreless first half, BU exploded for four goals. The Terriers got on the board 10 minutes into the frame when Sedrick Chin dribbled by two defenders and slipped a pass to Federico Bianchi in the box. Bianchi had his initial shot blocked but fired in the rebound for a goal at 57:80.
The Seawolves had an excellent chance to tie it just a minute later as Kevin Cameron put a fake on goalkeeper Chad Comroe and raced towards an open net. BU's Jon Martin was there to make a kick save on Cameron's shot and preserve the 1-0 lead.
At the 64:21 mark, Matt Cross made it 2-0 after he took a long pass from Andrew Dorman and fired the ball into the net for the score.
Erik Evjen made it 3-0 after heading a corner kick from Jamie Johnson into the net at 69:34. Johnson capped off the scoring after converting on a free kick at 74:20.
Matt Thibdeau turned away six shots in the loss, while Comroe made six saves while notching his sixth career shutout.
BU held a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks and out-shot Stony Brook, 17-13.
The Seawolves close out the season when they host Vermont on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. The match will serve as senior day.
