The Stony Brook women's volleyball team swept UMBC by the scores of 30-17, 30-22 and 30-20 in America East action Friday night at the Indoor Sports Complex. The win was Stony Brook's 17th in its last 21 outings to improve to 18-12 overall, 9-4 in conference play. UMBC slipped to 14-18, 3-10.
Stony Brook received solid efforts from several players in the 3-0 sweep. Tesha Harry and Maria Samilo led the way with 10 kills apiece. Harry was dominant at the net, registering a .429 hitting percentage and six blocks.
Stony Brook took control from the outset, posting a convincing 30-17 win in game one behind Tesha Harry's strong play at the net. UMBC's Jocelyn Teoh kept the Retrievers close in game two but a late surge by the hosts gave them a 30-22 win. The Seawolves finished off the Retrievers in game three with a 30-20 triumph.
Setter Julie Zub totaled 34 assists and Abby Egan chipped in with 11 digs. The Seawolves wrap up regular season play when they take on Binghamton Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
