Volleyball Stops Albany 3-1 Behind Goldsmith's 14 Kills

Albany, N.Y. - Rachel Goldsmith had 14 kills and 18 digs as Stony Brook defeated Albany, 3-1, in America East Conference volleyball action on Friday evening at University Gymnasium.

Stony Brook (16-12, AE 7-4), which moved into a tie for third in the conference standings with the Great Danes, lost the first game, 30-25, but then took the next three by scores of 30-28, 30-23 and 30-25. Tesha Harry and Maria Samilo contributed 12 and 11 kills, respectively, in the win, while Julie Zub dished out 42 assists.

Albany (22-8, AE 7-4), which had defeated the Seawolves in five games back on Oct. 25, was led by freshman Shelby Goldman's 16 kills. Eileen Nicole Rodriguez and Ashlee Reed each added 14 kills as well as 10 and 13 digs, respectively. Blair Buchanan handed out 38 assists.

Stony Brook is back in action on Saturday when it travels to Northeastern. Match time is 4 p.m.
