The Boston College men's tennis team got its first victory of 2003 as it defeated Stony Brook, 6-1, at the Flynn Recreation Complex on Saturday.
The Eagles won at Nos. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 singles and swept all three doubles matches. Junior Brad Anderson beat Egil Anonsen, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 while junior Justin Slattery slipped past Mike Crooks at No. 2, 7-5, 6-4.
Jean-Francois Robitaille picked up Stony Brook's only victory, defeating Chris McCoy 6-2, 5-7, 6-4, at the No. 3 spot.
At No. 1 doubles, Slattery and Anderson downed Egil Anonsen and Crooks, 8-3. Junior Ross Pytko and senior Damon Vartabedian teamed up to beat Robitaille and David Hewitt, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles, while McCoy and Bob Murray overcame Patrick Drozdzik and Philippe Amireault at No. 3, winning 8-3.
Stony Brook (0-2) returns to the court on Sunday when the Seawolves face Boston University.
