Katie Terhune sank a pair of free throws with four seconds remaining in the game to seal B.U.'s 67-66 victory over visiting Stony Brook on Wednesday night. Freshman Mykeema Ford finished with a game-high 31 points, including a school record seven three pointers for the Seawolves.
Stony Brook led 64-62 in the final minute following a basket by Sherry Jordan, but Terhune responded with a three-pointer to put B.U. back ahead at 65-64. Jordan answered for SB with another basket to put the Seawolves ahead which set the stage for Terhune's heroics in the final seconds.
The senior was fouled with 4.1 seconds on the clock and cooly hit both free throws to seal the win for the Terriers.
Ford nailed a school-record seven three-pointers, which tied her for the third best single-game performance in America East history. Her career-high 31 points tied her for the seventh-best single-game outing in Stony Brook history. Jordan notched a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The loss drops SB to 2-14, 1-6 in conference play.
The Seawolves are back in action on Sunday when they hit the road to face Maine. Tip-off is 1 p.m.
