Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to Army 145-95

West Point, N.Y. - The Seawolves started their 2004-05 season with a 145-95 loss to Army. Seniors, Ted Freeborn and Jeffrey Chu, led the way, but Stony Brook could not pull out the victory.

Freeborn took first in the 50-yard freestyle and second in the 100-yard freestyle to earn points for SBU. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Freeborn, Jeffrey Chu, Matt Descovich and Kyle Thornton took first place, as the Seawolves earned second and third in the event as well.

Chu won the 200-yard butterfly race and helped his 400-yard medley relay team finish second along with Nathan French, Kirill Alekseyev and Dan Piastuck. French also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle and won the 100-yard backstroke.

Stony Brook swept the 200-yard breaststroke race. Newcomer, Vladimir Sreckovic, won the event with a time of 2:21.26, followed by teammates, Alekseyev, Frank Schursky and James Berkowitz.

The Seawolves are back in action on Saturday, October 30, for their first home meet against UMASS at 1:00 p.m.
