Chris Megaloudis scored twice and EJ Xikis and John Moschella combined for the shutout in net as Stony Brook snapped its four-match winless streak with a 3-0 win at Rider on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Seawolves improved to 9-5-2 on the season, while the Broncs fell to 3-11.
The Seawolves got on the board 18:34 into the contest when Chris Scarpati sent a cross from the far left and found a charging Zach Norwood, who headed the ball into the upper right corner to give SB a 1-0 lead.
Megaloudis sealed the victory 14 minutes into the second half when he scored a pair of goals just 37 seconds apart to give SB a 3-0 advantage.
Moschella preserved the shutout late in the half when he made a diving stop on a penalty kick by Rider's Adam Bailey.
Xikis and Moschella stopped three shots a piece, while Xikis (3-2-0) picked up the victory for the Seawolves.
Stony Brook is back in action on Sunday when it hosts Maine for Alumni Day beginning at 12:00 p.m.
