The Stony Brook men's and women's tennis teams went a perfect 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at University Courts, as the women's teamed downed Sacred Heart, 4-3, and Wagner, 7-0, to improve its dual match record to 3-0, while the men's team defeated Hofstra, 5-2, to improve to 2-2 on the year.
The women's team opened up the day with a hard fought 4-3 victory over Sacred Heart as the squad won all three doubles matches for the point and Sandy Wijeratne, Anne Cathrine Valle and Rachel Kimelman won their singles matches to clinch the victory.
In their second match of the day, the Seawolves' women swept past Wagner, 7-0, dropping only nine games in nine matches.
The men's team improved to 2-2 on the season as they downed Hofstra by a 5-2 score. The Seawolves opened up play with a sweep of the doubles matches to earn the opening point. Jan Krejci then improved his unbeaten streak to 63 matches with a win at No. 1 singles, while teammates Michael Crooks, Tal Meir and Jon Gamberg won their matches to secure the win.
The men's team is back in action tomorrow with matches against Sacred Heart and Wagner at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, while the women will hit the courts in two weeks at the ITA Regionals on October 22-24.
