Nov. 10, 2004

Final Stats

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's 400 freestyle relay team demolished the school record by two seconds to help the women's team beat Fordham 125-117 for the first time in 20 years. The men's 400 freestyle relay team broke a pool record while falling to the Rams 145-97.

The women's 400 freestyle relay team of Jamie Bevilacqua, Courtney Teague, Autumn Griggers and Shirlee Manoogian finished first in a time of 3:35.95 to break the school record of 3:37.78 set last season and take the meet for the women. Manoogian also won the 200 freestyle and Teague took the top spot in the 100 freestyle.

Kim Harris won the 200 IM, closely followed by teammate, Allison DeSanti in second. Harris, DeSanti, and Manoogian were joined by Alison Porteus to win the 400 medley relay. Porteus also took a win in the 200 breaststroke, followed, in second, by DeSanti. Diver, Hailey Lewandowski took the top spot in both the 3-meter and 1-meter events to help the Seawolves to victory.

On the men's side, it was the relay team of Nathan French, Kyle Thornton, Dan Piastuck and Ted Freeborn who broke a pool record in the 400 freestyle relay. Freeborn also took first in the 50 freestyle.

Jeffrey Chu took first in the 200 IM and the 200 butterfly. The Seawolves' effort, though, was overpowered by Fordham in the end.

Stony Brook is back in action on November 22, for a home tri-meet with Iona and St. Francis.
