Stony Brook Falls to Albany, 3-0

The Stony Brook volleyball team was swept 3-0 by America East frontrunner Albany on Friday evening at University Gymnasium in the state capital. With the loss, the Seawolves dropped to 13-14 this season, 5-6 in America East play, while Albany improved to 23-5, 11-0.

The Seawolves came out of the gates to take an early lead, but the Great Danes stormed back to take the opening game of the match 30-25. Albany dominated the second game for a 30-19 win and outlasted the Seawolves in Game 3 for a 30-24 victory to close out the match.

The Seawolves were led offensively by Maria Samilo's 12 kills, while Julie Zub added 33 assists. Abby Egan led the defense with 13 digs.

Albany's Ashlee Reed recorded a career-high 17 kills to lead the Great Danes to victory.

The Seawolves return to action tomorrow afternoon when they head to Binghamton to face the Bearcats at 5 p.m.
