The Seawolves defeated Maine in both men's and women's swimming and diving on Sunday afternoon. The men downed the Black Bears 134-103, while the women took the closely scored meet, 123-120.
On the men's side, Ted Freeborn took two first place finishes in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.01 and in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.80. Dan Piastuck followed Freeborn closely in both races, taking second in both the 50 and 100 freestyle races with times of 22.71 and 49.47 respectively.
Jeffrey Chu also posted two individual wins in the 200 butterfly and the 200 IM. Chu's 400 medley relay team of Alexei Smirnov, Vladimir Sreckovic and Piastuck finished first with a time of 3:42.06. Sreckovic took an individual first place mark in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:16.62.
Nathan French won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:16.06, followed in second by teammate, Matt Descovich with a time of 10:45.80. French and Descovich took first and second in the 500 freestyle with times of 4:54.98 and 5:10.00 respectively. Ruslan Safarov and Kyle Thornton took first and second in the 200 backstroke to secure the Seawolves' victory.
On the women's side, in a close meet, freshman, Courtney Teague, came out strong in the 100 freestyle, helping the Seawolves sweep the first three spots in scoring. She was closely followed by classmate, Autumn Griggers and Starlyn Rupinski. Teague, Griggers and Rupinski teamed up with Shirlee Manoogian to take a Seawolves win in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:40.52.
Manoogian won the 200 IM and helped her 400 medley relay team of Alison Porteus, Kim Harris and Jamie Bevilacqua to a 4:02.31 first place finish. Porteus took an individual victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:28.94, followed in second by teammate, Allison DeSanti.
Kate Zabler won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:16.80. Diver, Hailey Lewandowski won the 1-meter event and took second in the 3-meter event to help the Seawolves over the Black Bears.
The Seawolves are back at home on Wednesday to take on Fordham at 5:00 p.m.
