The Stony Brook men's tennis team bounced back after losing the doubles point to win five of six singles matches and defeat Hofstra 5-2 on Thursday afternoon at University Courts. The Seawolves have now won seven consecutive matches to improve to 13-1 on the season.
After dropping two of three doubles matches to Hofstra and staking the Pride to a 1-0 lead, Stony Brook stormed back with wins in five of the six singles matches. Tal Meir fell 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, but Michael Crooks continued his dominant play at the No. 2 spot, taking his match 6-0, 6-4 to give the Seawolves their first point of the afternoon. Alamgir Wali battled to a 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 win at No. 3 to improve his singles record to 14-1 this year, while Egil Anonsen held down the No. 4 spot with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. Philippe Amireault moved up to the No. 5 spot and cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Matthew Jacobson improved to 4-0 in dual match play with a 7-6, 6-1 win at No. 6.
The Seawolves are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they take on the University of New Hampshire at 3 p.m.
