Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Trish Roberts has resigned as head coach of Stony Brook University's women's basketball team in order to attend to family issues, Director of Athletics Jim Fiore announced today. Roberts led the Seawolves for five seasons after taking over as head coach in 1999.
"With the recent death of her brother, there has been a shift in Trish's priorities," Fiore said. "It is critically important for her to be with her family. We understand her decision and we extend to her our best wishes for the future."
Roberts compiled a five-year record of 66-76 and guided the Seawolves to the America East tournament championship game in 2002. Prior to that she had head coaching stints with the Atlanta Glory of the ABL, the University of Michigan, and the University of Maine.
A national search for a successor will begin immediately.
