Stony Brook Rallies to Beat Iona 3-2

The Seawolves rallied to defeat the Gaels of Iona College three games to two in the seond day of the St. Francis Red Flash Invitational. Stony Brook improves its record to 6-4, while the Gaels fall to 2-7.

Iona started the match strong winning the first game 30-18 and the second 30-22. The Seawolves rallied in the last three games, defeating Iona 20-23, 30-28 and 15-8 respectively.

Freshman, Kate Ruskowski, played in three games tallying 29 assists and nine digs in the Seawolves' effort. Danielle MacKnight led the team in blocks with four solos and four assists.

Morgan Sweany pitched in seven kills, 23 digs and an ace while teammates Sarah Bauer and Sarah Votruba had 13 and 15 kills respectively.

Stony Brook is back in action at 6 p.m. against tournament host, St. Francis.
