Volleyball Falls to Rutgers in Four Games

Fairfax, Va. - The Stony Brook women's volleyball team lost to Rutgers in the Seawolves first match at the Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Va., on Friday evening, losing three straight games 30-22, 30-27, 30-25 after taking the first game 30-18. With the loss the Seawolves record falls to 7-5 this season.

Stony Brook dominated the first game of the match, easily winning 30-18, but Rutgers battled back and took control of the contest to win in four games.

Maria Samilo led the Seawolves' offense, registering 11 kills, while teammate Danielle MacKnight added 10 kills in the loss. Julie Zub paced the Stony Brook attack with 38 assists and Abby Egan dug 16 balls.

The Seawolves are back in action tomorrow in Day 2 of the Patriot Invitational when they face host George Mason at 1 p.m. and then take on Towson at 5 p.m.
