Hartford did not make a field goal in the final 10:36 of the game, but still managed to grab a 62-51 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon at the Chase Family Arena. With the loss, the Seawolves fell to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in America East play, while the Hawks improved to 9-4 and 3-1.
Hartford used a 10-1 run midway through the second half to take a 56-43 lead with 8:08 to play. Included in that run was a three by Ikea Witt, which was the Hawks final field goal of the game.
The Seawolves chipped the lead down to seven at 56-49 with 3:51 to play on a layup by Kelly Watson, but that was as close as they could get as Hartford made 11-of-16 free throws in the final 10:16 of the contest to seal the win.
Jessica Smith led the Seawolves with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Mykeema Ford and Kelly Watson each chipped in with 12 points in the loss.
Tanika Price led all scorers with 14 points for Hartford.
The Seawolves are back in action at home on Tuesday night when they host Binghamton in a televised contest beginning at 7:30 p.m.
