Women's Hoop Falls at Harvard 87-69

Cambridge, Mass. - Reka Cserny led five players in double-figures as Harvard topped Stony Brook 87-69 on Monday night at Lavietes Pavilion. Cserny netted a game-high 26 points as the Crimson improved to 8-5 on the season, while the Seawolves fell to 2-7.

Harvard came out on fire in the first half behind the dominant play of of Cserny, who dropped 17 points in the first stanza as the Crimson took a 55-34 lead at the break. Harvard shot a blistering 64.7 percent (22-of-34) in the half, while the Seawolves shot just 37.1 percent (13-of-35).

The Crimson stretched its advantage to as much as 29 at 76-47 with 10:59 to play before Stony Brook began to chip away at the lead, ending the game on a 22-11 run to bring the margin back to 18 points at the final buzzer.

Mykeema Ford led the Seawolves with 19 points, while Jessica Smith netted 14 and Inbar Orion chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Jessica Holsey posted 13 points, while Katie Murphy netted 12 for Harvard.

The Seawolves return home to open up America East play when they host UMBC on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
