Albany took control early and never looked back as the Great Danes cruised to an 81-60 victory over Stony Brook on Wednesday night at the Recreation and Convocation Center. With the loss, the Seawolves fell to 8-16 overall and 6-9 in America East play, while the Great Danes improved to 12-12 and 7-8.
The Seawolves struggled offensively from the start, shooting just 20.6 percent (7-for-34) from the floor as Albany jumped out to a 41-22 lead at the break.
The Great Danes extended their lead to as many as 28 points in the second half at 78-50 with 2:00 to go and SB would get no closer than 18 points the rest of the way.
The Seawolves shot a season-low .268 (19-for-71) from the floor in the contest.
Jessica Smith led SB with 15 points and seven rebounds. Kelly Watson finished with 13 points while Mykeema Ford chipped in with 11.
Danielle Hutcheson led all scorers with 18 points to go with 13 boards for Albany.
The Seawolves are back in action on Saturday when they host New Hampshire at 1:00 p.m.
