Maine Outlasts Women's Basketball 76-59

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Bracey Barker scored 23 points and Missy Traversi added 21 as Maine outlasted Stony Brook, 76-59, on Wednesday night at the Indoor Sports Complex. The Seawolves have now lost four straight to fall to 8-18 overall and 6-11 in America East play, while the Black Bears have won 12 straight to improve to 19-8 and 15-2.

Trailing by six points midway through the second half, Stony Brook used a 7-1 run to tie the game at 45 with 12:34 to play. After Maine pushed the lead back to five points at 9:32, Mykeema Ford hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead back to three points at 8:28.

That was as close as the Seawolves would get, as Maine distanced itself behind four three-pointers over the final 6:13 to stretch their lead to as many as 17 points.

Ford led Stony Brook with 17 points, five assists, five rebounds and four steals, while Inbar Orion and Jessica Smith each chipped in with 12 points. Dana Ferraro posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The game served as the final home contest for seniors Stephanie Barlett and Bojana Bogetic, who were both honored in a pre-game ceremony.

Ashley Underwood added 14 points while Kim Corbitt netted 10 points and dished out a game-high eight assists for Maine.

The Seawolves close out their regular season when they travel to take on Northeastern on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
