Georgetown Nips Stony Brook 10-7

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Nick Cangelosi's 25-yard touchdown pass to Harrison Beacher with 5:05 remaining in the contest lifted Georgetown to a 10-7 come-from-behind victory over Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon in front of a homecoming crowd of 6,028 at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The loss was the second straight for the Seawolves, who fall to 1-2 on the season, while the Hoyas even their record at 2-2.

After a scoreless first half, SB got on the board with 9:21 left in the third quarter as Josh Dudash capped an 11-play, 90-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown plunge. Matt Weeks converted on the extra point and SB led 7-0.

The visitors cut the lead back to 7-3 when Brad Scoffern chipped in a 19-yard field goal just over three minutes into the fourth quarter.

Later in the frame, a 31-yard punt by Sean McGinty put Georgetown on the SB 39 yard line, setting up the 5-play, 39-yard game-winning scoring drive capped by Beacher's touchdown to put the Hoyas up 10-7.

Dudash finished 15-for-29 for 156 yards and rushed for 28 yards and a score. Mike Cosentino made six catches for 69 yards, while Dan Michitsch totalled 13 tackles including three for a loss. Ray Goodsir added four tackles and a 12-yard interception return for the Seawolves.

Cangelosi was 14-of-24 for 118 yards and a TD and interception, while Mehdi Hassan led the Hoya defense with 11 tackles and a sack.

The Seawolves return to LaValle Stadium next Saturday when they host Monmouth in the 4th Annual Raymond Downey Heroes Classic. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
