The Stony Brook volleyball team was swept 3-0 (19-30, 23-30, 17-30) by Albany in its America East Conference opener. Morgan Sweany led all Seawolves with 11 kills and Claire Lindner added a match-high 14 digs. The loss drops the Seawolves to 6-9 on the season and 0-1 in the America East. Albany improves to 13-2 and 1-0 in America East play.
The Seawolves only committed 17 attack errors for the match, but only hit .142 as they mustered 33 kills on 113 attempts. Sweany paced the Seawolves with 11 kills. Albany out-dug Stony Brook 58 to 39 and hit .288 for the match. Shelby Goldman led the Great Danes with a match-high 14 kills, with Ashley Hunter adding 12 and Ashlee Reed contributing 10.
The Seawolves will play on Sunday when they travel to America East foe Hartford. The match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
