The Stony Brook University men's and women's swim team had a dominating performance this afternoon, cruising past St. Peter's and Vermont. On the women's side, the Seawolves cruised past both Vermont and St. Peter's, topping UVM by a score of 168-130, and topping St. Peter's, 241-36. On the men's side, the Seawolves swam against St. Peter's and won in convincing fashion by a score of 217-68.
The women opened the meet winning the 200 medley relay, when the team of Kim Harris, Alison Porteus, Lucy Liu, and Jamie Bevilacqua touched first with a time of 1:53.63. Courtney Teague took first in the 200 free with a time of 2:00.94, while Liu took the 100 back in 1:01.00. Shirlee Manoogian finished first in the 200 fly (2:09.64), 100 fly (58.41) and 100 free (53.01). Harris nabbed a first place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:12.68, while Bevilacqua won the 500 free in a time of 5:16.24. Alison DeSanti won the 200 IM in 2:14.64. The final relay team of Autumn Griggers, Teague, Bevilacqua, and Manoogian finished the 200 free in a time of 1:40.77.
Hailey Lewandowski took first place in the 1-meter (230.85 )and 3-meter (212.20 ) diving events on the afternoon as well for the Seawolves.
On the men's side, the Seawolves opened with a victory in the 200 medley relay, when the team of Rafael Labour, Jon Sigurosson, Jeff Chu, and Omer Ozcan touched in a time of 1:36.64. Bryce Cullinane was victorious in the 1000 free (10:09.55) and 500 free (4:57.30) while Kyle Thornton won the 200 free in a time of 1:47.58 and the 200 breast (2:17.65). Labour won the 100 back (52.56 ) and 200 back with a time of 1:55.69 while Sigurosson won the 100 breast in a time of 59.71. Ozcan won the 50 free with a time of 22.01, while Ruslan Safarov took the 200 IM (2:09.61). The final Seawolf victory came in the 200 free relay when Sigurosson, Jason Maschi, Alex Kissel, and Labour touched first in 1:27.78.
The Seawolves return to action when the hit the water against Fairfield on January 28th at home at 1:00 p.m.
