The Stony Brook University swimming and diving squads downed Fairfield University this afternoon at Univeristy Pool. The women's squad defeated the Stags by a score of 163-76, while the men were victorious by a score of 182-57.

On the women's side, Shirlee Manoogian broke a 23-year old school record in the 1650 yard freestyle, shattering the old record by 30 seconds, as she swam the race in 17:29.19. Jamie Bevilacqua took first in the 200 free (1:58.90) while Kim Harris notched a victory in the 50 free with a time of 25.25. Kym Sgrignoli touched first in the 200 IM (2:20.84) and Lucy Liu took first place in the 100 fly (1:02.31). Manoogian picked up her second win of the day in the 100 free with a time of 52.32, while Harris recorded her second win in the 100 backstroke when she touched in 1:01.04. Allison DeSanti won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.03 as well. The Seawolves placed first in the 400 free relay when the team of Bevilacqua, Autumn Griggers, Courtney Teague, and Manoogian touched in 3:45.46. The 400 medley squad of Harris, Porteus, DeSanti, and Bevilacqua cruised to a first place finish in a time of 4:05.24.

The men's team cruised to victory, as the Seawolves placed first in every event on the afternoon. Bryce Cullinane won the 1650 free in 17:15.65, and Kyle Thornton picked up a big win in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.62. Jason Maschi cruised to a first place finish in the 50 free in 22 seconds, and Jon Sigurosson out touched the competition in the 200 IM in 2:02.30. Maschi won his second event of the afternoon in the 100 fly (53.09) and Nathan French was victorious in the 100 free in a time of 48.22. Jeffrey Chu also won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.24 and Thornton was a dual-winner after earning a victory in the 500 free (4:53.75). Frank Schursky touched first in the 100 breast to finish up the wins for the Seawolves with a time of 59.15. The men's 400 free relay team of Maschi, Omer Ozcan, Sigurosson, and Rafael Labour won in a time of 3:15.80. The 400 medley relay of Alexei Smirnov, Schursky, Ruslan Safarov and Dan Piastuck were victorious with a time of 3:49.53.

The Seawolves return to action in their final meet before the America East Championships next Saturday when they face Binghamton at home at 2:00 p.m.
