Morgan Sweany hit .406 with 17 kills as the Stony Brook volleyball team moved into first place in America East with a 3-0 (30-20, 30-25, 30-21) win over Hartford on Sunday afternoon. With the win Stony Brook improves to 11-11 overall and 4-1 in conference. Hartford falls to 7-11 and 0-5 in America East play.
The Seawolves outhit Hartford in the opening game .419 to .036 and never looked back as they controlled play in the sweep. Sweany paced the Stony Brook attack with 17 kills and eight digs, Gulce Nazli Dikecligil hit .389 with 10 kills and eight digs in the win. Claire Lindner added a match-high 12 digs and Kaitlyn Deutsch added 41 assists. As a team Stony Brook hit .262 and tallied 15 more kills than Hartford.
The Seawolves return to action on Friday, October 20 when they take on take on UMBC. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
