Volleyball Edged By Albany, 3-2

Albany, N.Y. - Despite over 20 kills from Morgan Sweany and Gulce Nazli Dikecligil and a match-high 25 digs from Claire Lindner the Stony Brook volleyball team fell in five, 3-2 (30-26, 30-26, 27-30, 25-30, 15-10), to Albany Friday evening. With the loss the Seawolves move to 8-11 over all and 1-1 in America East play. Albany improves to 2-1 in conference and 9-8 overall.

After dropping the first two games, the Seawolves rallied to win games three and four to send the match into the fifth and decisive game. After grabbing a 10-9 lead in the final game, Albany rallied to win the final six points and claim the win.

Sweany led the way for Stony Brook with 26 kills and 17 digs and Dikecligil added 23 kills and 12 digs. Linder led the way on defense with a match-high 25 digs and freshman Jamie Watson added a career-best 14 digs in the loss.

The Seawolves return to action this Sunday when they welcome Maine to the Indoor Sports Complex. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
