Freshmen Rebecca Sayles and Brittany Whipple continued their strong starts and a combined team effort helped the Stony Brook women's swimming and diving team to a sweep of Iona and St. Francis 63-41 and 85-18, respectively. The women's team is now 2-3 on the season.
The "A" relay team of Maeve Leong, Brittany Whipple, Anjelica D'Esposito and Courtney Teague got the women off to a fast start when they placed first in the 200-yard medley in 1:53.63.
Sayles bested Shea Dix of Iona with a time 1:58.16 and Whipple beat Amanda Cody of Iona in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.23, winning by just two seconds. D'Esposito emulated Whipple when she won the 100-yard butterfly over Eryn Crane. Crane finished in 1:00.98.
Sayles and Whipple won multiple events on Thursday night as did Teague and Lucy Liu.
The women return to the pool when they face Boston University on December 2 at 2 pm at the Stony Brook University Pool.
