The Stony Brook men's swimming and diving team had an exceptional meet as the Seawolves swept Iona and St. Francis (NY) on Thursday night at St. Francis, 57-47 and 85-18, respectively. Stony Brook is now 3-2 on the season.
The Seawolves, coming off their first victory over Maine, came out of the gate early when the "A" relay won the 200-yard medley. The team of Raphy Labour, Jon Sigurosson, Chris Pai and Omer Ozcan finished more than five seconds ahead of St. Francis.
Bryce Cullinane continued his strong season winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:34.33. Omer Ozcan followed a few events later when he touched first in the 50-yard freestyle, just 12 seconds ahead of Gabor Szabo of Iona.
Ruslan Safarov and Jon Sigurosson placed first and second in the 100-yard butterfly followed by Raphy Labour and Omer Ozcan placing one and two in the 100-yard backstroke.
Vladimir Sreckovic won the last individual event of the night when he touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The next meet is on Saturday, December 2 when the Seawolves face Boston University and the Stony Brook University Pool at 2 pm.
