Stony Brook Volleyball Wins A Pair At Jasper Invitational

Manhattan, N.Y. - The Stony Brook volleyball team opened up its 2006 campaign with a pair of wins at the Jasper Invitational. The Seawolves (2-0) won the opener against Long Island University, 3-2, and then defeated Manhattan, 3-0, in the night cap.

Morgan Sweany led the Seawolves to the 3-2 (21-30, 30-26, 22-30, 30-23, 15-10) victory over LIU, recording a team-high 22 kills and adding 15 digs. Gulce Nazli Dikecligil added 17 kills and a team-high 18 digs and Sarah Bauer rounded off the Stony Brook offense with 13 kills. In her first game in a Seawolf uniform, Kaitlyn Deutsch tallied 53 assists and 12 digs.

In the second match, the Seawolves swept Manhattan, 3-0 (30-23, 30-27, 34-32). Sweany notched a match-high 13 kills in the win and Amy Oleksiej added 11 as Stony Brook improved to 2-0 on the season.

The Seawolves will wrap-up play in the Jasper Invitational when they take on Rhode Island at 2:00 P.M.
