Volleyball Wins Jasper Invitational With Sweep of Rhode Island

Manhattan, N.Y. - The Stony Brook volleyball team claimed its first tournament title of the year and improved to 3-0 on the season with a 3-0 (30-27, 31-29, 30-28) win over Rhode Island at the Jasper Invitational.

Morgan Sweany led the Seawolves offense, tallying 16 kills in the win. Gulce Nazli Dikecligil added 14 kills and 10 digs while Amy Oleksiej totaled nine kills to round off the balanced Seawolf attack. Claire Lindner added a team-high 16 digs for Stony Brook. Kaitlyn Deutsch put in another solid performance, totaling 35 assists, nine digs and seven blocks.

Sweany garnered tournament MVP honors after leading the Stony Brook attack in all three wins. Deutsch was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts.

The Seawolves will return to action on Friday, September 1 when they hit the road to take on William and Mary. The match is scheduled for a 7:30 P.M. start.
