After falling in five to Princeton, the Seawolves rebounded and defeated Coppin State to finish in second place at the Red Flash Invitational. With the split, the Seawolves move to 7-10 on the season.
In the match against Princeton, Morgan Sweany paced the Stony Brook attack with her second performance in a row with over 20 kills. The junior outside hitter rattled off 24 kills and added 24 digs as the Seawolves fell, 3-2 (30-26, 33-31, 26-30, 28-30, 15-10). Gulce Nazli Dikecligil added a double-double with 19 kills and 22 digs, Amy Oleksiej totaled 15 kills and Jessica Graham hit a career-high 12 kills in the loss.
In the evening match, the Seawolves swept Coppin State, 3-0 (30-22, 30-27, 30-16), to finish as Red Flash Invitational Runner-Up. Dikecligil led the way for Stony Brook with 14 kills and eight digs and Sweany added another double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Both Sweany and Dikecligil were named to the all-tournament team.
The Seawolves return to action next Sunday when they open up America East play at home when they take on New Hampshire. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
