Men's Soccer loses to Vermont, 1-0

Burlington, VT. - Despite six saves by goalkeeper EJ Xikis, the Stony Brook men's soccer team lost to Vermont, 1-0, in the America East conference opener for both teams. Stony Brook is 3-8-0; Vermont is 5-4-2.

Marty Galvin scored in the 50th minute for Vermont, which took 18 shots. Connor Tobin assisted on Galvin's second goal of the season for the Catamounts, who had 14 straight shots and nine straight corner kicks at one point.

The Seawolves' best chance came in the 15th minute when Mahamadou Simpara's 15-yard volley went just high.

The Seawolves return to action on Saturday, September 30, when they visit Albany. Their America East home opener is Wednesday, October 4, at 7 p.m. against UMBC.
