The Stony Brook men's tennis team went 1-1 over the weekend. After coming from behind to top Buffalo, 4-3, on Saturday, the Seawolves fell to Cornell, 6-1, on Sunday. With the two matches from the weekend the Seawolves move to 4-4 on the year.
Against Buffalo, the Seawolves found themselves down 1-0 after losing the doubles point. Quirijn Van Veen and Nihal Advani tallied the lone doubles win with an 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot. In singles, Van Veen won at No. 1, 6-3, 7-6, Jon Epstein won at No. 5, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, and Alex Markovich won at No. 6, 6-0, 6-1, to even the match at 3-3. Youssef Fassi-Fehri clinched the match as he fought off three match points in the second set and cruised in the third as he won 5-7, 7-6, 6-2, at No. 3 singles to clinch the Stony Brook win.
In the match versus Cornell, Van Veen picked up the lone win at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Josh Ruff as the Seawolves fell 6-1.
