Men's Soccer Blanks Adelphi, 2-0

Queens, N.Y. - Petar Rakovic (Kragujevac, Serbia) scored in the 14th minute off a free kick and Mahamadou Simpara (Bamako, Mali) scored a goal for the second game in a row as the Stony Brook men's soccer team avenged its only home loss last season with a 2-0 win over Adelphi on Thursday afternoon. The Seawolves have now won three games in a row and improve to 3-2. Adelphi is 0-5

Following an Adelphi foul, Rakovic scored on a free kick to give the visiting team a 1-0 lead.

After taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room, Simpara would give the Seawolves a 2-0 lead in the 80th minute. Michael Palacio (Long Beach, N.Y.) served a free kick which was headed in by Simpara. It was Palacio's fourth assist of the season and 26th of his career.

Dawid Ditrich (Gdansk, Poland) made four saves for his third win of the season.

Stony Brook returns home to face Niagara on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is slated for 3 pm.
