Sweany Leads Volleyball To Sweep Of Fordham

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior Morgan Sweany (Mission Viejo, Calif.) tallied a game-high 24 kills to lead the Stony Brook Seawolves to their eight straight victory, a 3-0 (30-21, 30-26, 33-21) victory over the Fordham Rams on Tuesday night at the Indoor Sports Complex. The Seawolves improve to 12-6 with the victory while the Rams fall to 9-11.

Sweany had an attack percentage of .420 and also added10 digs. Graduate student Jackie Ahlers (Stony Point, N.Y.) also reached double-figures in kills with 15. Freshman Jeanette Gibbs (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) led three Seawolves with double-digit digs, tallying 14 with junior Noelle Bay (Seldon, N.Y.) adding 12.

Stony Brook compiled an attack percentage of .360 while holding the Rams to .168.

The Rams were led by Lauren Fitzsimon who recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs. Christ Griffith's was the only other Fordham player to reach double-figures in kills with 10. Stephanie Frost paced the Rams with 13 digs.

The Seawolves return to action on Saturday, traveling to take on Albany at 7 p.m.
