Tied 3-3, junior Juan Carlos Cotto (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) fell to Parker Preyer of Princeton as the Tigers defeated the Stony Brook men's tennis team, 4-3 at Jadwin Gym on Friday afternoon.
Princeton won the doubles point, topping Stony Brook 8-4 in #1 doubles and 8-3 in #2 and #3 doubles, respectively.
After losing the first two singles matches in straight sets, the Seawolves came back to win the next three singles' points. Junior Youssef Fassi-Fehri (Fes, Morocco) and sophomore Jon Epstein (Silver Spring, Md.) won at #3 and #4 singles and sophomore Alex Markovich (Brooklyn, N.Y.) outlasted Alex Foust in three sets.
Cotto battled Preyer but fell 6-1, 6-4.
The men's tennis team is off to Florida where it faces Stetson in Naples, Fla on March 18. Match one is scheduled for 2 pm.
