Men's Soccer Falls To UMBC, 2-0

Baltimore, Md. - The Stony Brook University men's soccer team fell to UMBC, 2-0, on Wednesday night at the Retrievers' Soccer Stadium. Senior Damion Brown (Kingston, Jamaica) and sophomore Wilber Bonilla (Brentwood, N.Y.) each recorded two shots for the Seawolves, who recorded four shots on goal to the Retrievers' three. Stony Brook is 1-9-2, 0-2-0 America East while UMBC is 10-1-0, 1-1-0.

Sophomore Serigne Sylla (New York, N.Y.) had the first shot for either team but his header was saved by UMBC keeper Phil Saunders. Andrew Bulls scored the eventual game-winner in the 13th minute, tallying his NCAA leading 14th goal this season.

After Saunders saved a shot from Bonilla, UMBC produced its second goal on the next possession when Levi Houapeu scored from 23-yards out.

Brown, Bonilla and freshmen Kyle Schlesinger (Selden, N.Y.) and Leonardo Fernandes (North Babylon, N.Y.) recorded shots for Stony Brook in the second half.

Stony Brook will begin a three-game homestand on Saturday evening against Binghamton. Kick-off against the Bearcats is slated for 7 pm.
