Senior Julian Acevedo (Long Island City, N.Y.) and freshman Darcy Heuser (Centerville, Ohio) were recognized by the America East Conference on Tuesday when they were named male Diver and female Swimmer of the Week, respectively. Acevedo, competing in the final home meet of his career, earned the award for the first time this season, while Heuser is a three-time recipient.
Acevedo had his strongest showing of the season in the one-meter dive against Binghamton, posting a score of 273.75. Acevedo won the event, finishing almost 10 points ahead of the second-place diver.
Heuser helped lead the Stony Brook women's swimming & diving team to a 160-140 victory over Binghamton by earning first-place points in four races. Heuser won the 1,000 (10:44.03), 500 (5:13.81) and 200-yard freestyles (1:55.16) while also swimming the anchor leg in the 400-yard freestyle relay race.
The Seawolves next meet will be February 19th at the America East Championship in Boston, Massachusetts.
