The Stony Brook men's soccer team fell to Holy Cross 3-0 Friday afternoon in the Dartmouth Classic Tournament in Hanover, N.H. The loss drops the Seawolves to 1-4-0 on the season and leaves them with one game left on an opening six-game road/neutral run.

Holy Cross (1-2-0) peppered Stony Brook keeper Stefan Manz early with shots and corner opportunities. The Crusaders capitalized at 22:00 when Jon Werth connected on a rebound shot from the right side past Manz. The assist went to Kevin O'Connell and HC went up 1-0.

Less than three minutes later, Werth threw up a cross that Kyle Miller headed in past Manz for another Cross goal, putting the Crusaders up 2-0 in the 25th minute.

Stony Brook had just four shots in the first half, three of them saves by Holy Cross keeper Evan Polanik.

Early in the second half, the game got chippy as each side recorded yellow cards in the half's first five minutes. Holy Cross then put the game away with its third goal of the contest as O'Connell got in front of the SBU defense and put a shot past Manz in the 56th minute.

The Seawolves had two major opportunities to score thereafter, but couldn't put anything past Polanik. They finished with 11 shots, six of which were on goal.

Manz made three saves in the match for Stony Brook. He was relieved by Danny Bonomini in the 69th minute. Polanik finished with six saves and improved to 1-2-0.

Stony Brook will wrap up the Dartmouth Classic Tournament with a bout against tournament host Dartmouth, which is ranked fourth in this week's NSCAA/hendricks.com Northeast Region poll, Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
