Swimming and diving competes against BU and Maine

Boston, Mass. - The Stony Brook swimming and diving teams competed against Boston University and Maine in a tri-meet on Saturday in Boston, Mass. The Seawolves split with Maine, earning a 183-117 win on the men's side, while both teams fell to BU.

Sophomore Allison Zelnick (Troy, Ohio) turned in a spectacular day with a pair of first-place finishes in the 50 and 100 free. Zelnick posted a season-best time of 24.56 in the 50 free to top the field, before touching first once again in the 100 free with another season-best mark of 53.18. The sophomore also added a second-place finish in the 1000 free with a mark of 10:48.26.

Stony Brook swept the 200 freestyle on Saturday as junior Andjelija Sreckovic (Jagodina, Serbia) won the women's competition in 1:57.15 and senior Sean Conway (Oakdale, N.Y.) took the men's event in 1:43.81. Conway also turned in a second-place standing in the 100 free with a time of 47.56.

A pair of Stony Brook freshmen also made an impression on the meet as diver Kyle Gannon (North Babylon, N.Y.) placed first on the three-meter diving board with a score of 233.40, a career-best. Freshman Larry Barbosa (Corona, N.Y.) chipped in a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly (1:58.86) as well.

Stony Brook returns to Boston in two weeks for its next competition, the Terrier Invitational, on Nov. 18-20.
