Men's Tennis blanks UConn, 7-0

West Point, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's men's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 victory over the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday at the Lichtenburg Tennis Center. It was the second consecutive victory for the Sewolves, who are now 2-1.

Stony Brook started the match off by earning the doubles point. Freshman Nikita Fomin (Moscow, Russia) and sophomore Roope Kailaheimo (Helsinki, Finland) lost at the No. 1 spot but senior Ivan Rummel (Budapest, Hungary) and junior Max Sztabholz (Paris, France) then won 8-5 at No. 2.

Junior Mitch Wong (Tampa, Fla.) and freshman Ryan Schmitz (Schenectady, N.Y.) rolled to an 8-2 victory at the No. 3 position to give SBU a 1-0 lead. Stony Brook dominated singles play, winning all six singles matches while dropping just one set.

Fomin dropped just four games at No. 1 while Rummel lost just three games at No. 3. Stony Brook returns to action on Friday, traveling to take on Saint Joseph's.
