Philadelphia, Pa. - Stony Brook's men's tennis team shutout Saint Joseph's, 7-0, on Friday night before falling to the University of Pennyslvania, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon. Stony Brook is now 3-2 on the season.

Stony Brook dominated against Saint Joseph's, winning all three doubles matches and all six singles matches. Freshman Nikita Fomin (Moscow, Russia) and sophomore Roope Kailaheimo (Helsinki, Finland) won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles while junior Mitch Wong (Tampa, Fla.) and freshman Ryan Schmitz (Schenectady, N.Y.) won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.

SBU then won four of the six singles matches in straight sets. Senior Ivan Rummel (Budapest, Hungary) won 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot while freshman Francesco Arciuli (Lesmo, Italy) won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6. Fomin won in three sets at No. 1.

Penn opened the match by earning the doubles point. Fomin and Kailaheimo lost a close 8-6 match at No. 1 doubles as did Rummel and junior Mehmet Duru (Istanbul, Turkey) at No. 3.

Stony Brook then lost each of the six singles matches in straight sets. Arciuli lost 7-5, 7-6 (3) at No. 6 while Rummel was defeated 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2.

The Seawolves return to action next weekend, traveling to New Haven, Conn. for the Yale 4-Way.
