New Haven, Conn. - Stony Brook University's men's tennis team dropped three matches over the weekend at the Yale 4-Way. SBU lost 4-3 to Yale and Fairleigh Dickinson and fell, 6-1, to Marist.

Freshman Nikita Fomin (Moscow, Russia) went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and also teamed with sophomore Roope Kailaheimo (Helsinki) to win 8-2 at No. 1 doubles against Marist. Fomin won in straight sets against both Marist and FDU.

Fomin earned the Seawolves only point against Marist. SBU nearly won the doubles points against the Red Foxes but senior Ivan Rummel (Budapest, Hungary) and freshman Ryan Schmitz (Schenectady, N.Y.) lost the deciding match, 9-7, at No. 2.

Stony Brook also dropped the doubles against Fairleigh Dickinson and then split the six singles matches. Rummel won 7-5 in the third set at No. 2 while Schmitz won in straight sets at No. 6.

Stony Brook dropped all three doubles matches against Yale and then again, split the six singles matches. Kailaheimo won in a third-set tiebreak at the No. 3 spot.

The Seawolves return to action on Friday at Columbia. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
