Stony Brook men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches over the weekend, falling to Columbia and Princeton 6-1. Stony Brook is now 3-7.
Columbia dropped just five games in earning the doubles point. Freshman Nikita Fomin (Moscow, Russia) then won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles but the Lions won the five other singles matches in straight sets in win the match.
Princeton also opened the match by grabbing the doubles point. The Tigers then won five of the six singles matches to earn the victory.
Sophomore Roope Kailaheimo (Helsinki, Finland) won in three sets at No. 3 singles to earn SBU's only point of the match. Stony Brook returns to action on Friday, hosting St. John's at 2 p.m.
