Coach Steve Pikiell's Reaction
"It's good to be at home; we had another great crowd tonight. I loved my backcourt today; they did a good job of bouncing back. We played Stony Brook defense tonight and we rebounded. It was a great team effort all the way around."
Turning Point
The Seawolves were already leading Binghamton at halftime by 13 points, 39-26, but they put the game comfortably in their favor with a 9-0 run to open the second half that ultimately became a 20-5 run. Jackson drained a pair of threes during the 9-0 run and then senior Marcus Rouse (Upper Marlboro, Md.) banged home back-to-back triples at the 12:55 and 12:33 marks that made it a 56-31 game.
Binghamton took a timeout to regroup, but it was then Puriefoy who took advantage of a Rouse steal to sprint up the court, split two defender and finish with a strong layup and draw the foul. He converted the three-point play to give Stony Brook a 59-31 lead with 11:34 to play.
The Seawolves lead grew to as much as 34 points before settling on a 26-point victory margin.
